Class Rep: John Worrall john.worrall@student.bond.edu.au

Overview

This is a new subject being offered for the first time in 083 to a small class. Being a component of the BIT degree with a redesigned structure this subject forms part of the recently renamed Web Engineering major. To reflect the increased emphasis on the Web this subject will be named Web Application Development Environments in future semesters. Practical work will involve investigating a range of software tools for developing web applications, and using some of the tools to create example web applications.

One of the 2-hour classes each week will be held in a new type of teaching space called the Group Learning Room (BLD06_4_07). This will offer a new opportunity to work in small 2-3 person teams, one to each pod. Each team will investigate a topic such as a scripting language, development tool, data storage technology and such like, and then present the outcomes to the class as a whole using the pod display technology in the Group Learning Room.

The evolving subject outline (password inft215). The pre-semester published subject outline is available.

All subject information and study materials are available in electronic form and will commonly be found in this wiki. Where wi-fi is available the best study tool will be a laptop.
